Navigation replaces your context. A modal severs it. A tooltip can't hold enough.

The drawer extends it. Filters intact, list readable, while you inspect what matters.

In enterprise software, context is expensive. Your users are experts. They've applied specific filters. Built muscle memory around this layout. Destroying that to show detail is a tax on attention.

The drawer doesn't charge it.

This matters most in agentic consoles. When a reviewer evaluates an AI recommendation before approving or overriding, that reasoning doesn't belong in the main list. But it's critical at the moment of judgment.

The drawer holds it without interruption. Open the next row. Compare. Close. No navigation. No lost state.
