Design leadership

The developers you're designing for aren't opening your console

The developers building the most sophisticated AI-native applications are not opening your cloud console.

They're in their IDE. They're using CLI tools, Cursor, Claude Code in the terminal. The console is a foreign country they visit reluctantly, when something breaks.

And yet we keep designing "AI-enhanced" console experiences for them, adding chat interfaces on top of infrastructure management UIs, and wondering why adoption is flat.

The insight isn't "make the console smarter." The insight is that the console isn't the right surface for this customer segment at all.

Until we're honest about that, we're optimizing the wrong thing.
